Barbara I enjoy reading this blog of you in regards to metadata in Record-keeping and I tend to agree with you on the “command and control mentality” on records which is part of proof of continuous management of records. Explaining metadata to a non-record-keeping person is like flicking a switch off – you can literally see how their eyes glaze over and how you immediately lost their attention. Getting them to understand the concept of metadata is too complicated. The KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle should be our key goals in record keeping namely:- create full and accurate records, name it so that you can find it, store it in the Corporate File Plan (EDRMS), assist with retention and disposal decisions on files etc.
